FAQ's

01. How is Cushion Grip different from other denture adhesives?

Cushion Grip is a thermoplastic denture adhesive that fills the gaps between your gums and dentures, creating a snug, comfortable fit. Unlike regular cream adhesives, it softens with hot water for easy application and hardens as it cools, offering a stronger, longer-lasting hold.

It isn’t a glue adhesive; it works like a soft reline. A single application lasts up to four days and is waterproof, so it won’t wash off during daily cleaning. Cushion Grip adheres to your dentures, not your gums.

02. Which dentures are compatible with Cushion Grip?

Cushion Grip can be applied to both upper and lower denture plates and even partials. It is safe for use on all types of porcelain and plastic plates.

However, it is not suitable for extremely ill-fitting or broken dentures and doesn’t adhere well to smooth surfaces, silicone, or metal dentures.

03. How do I apply and remove Cushion Grip?

Applying:
  • Heat the Tube: Place the tube in a glass of hot tap water (not boiling) for 5-10 minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • Prepare Your Denture: Ensure your denture is completely dry and clean for better adhesion.
  • Apply Cushion Grip: Once pliable, squeeze out a pea-sized amount and spread it evenly on your denture.
  • Set the Denture: Place the denture in your mouth and apply pressure for about one minute.
  • Let it Set: Remove the denture and wait 5 minutes before putting it back in your mouth.
  • Wait Before Eating: For the best results, wait at least two hours before eating or chewing.

04. After applying Cushion Grip, how long do I have to wait to eat, drink, or take my dentures out?

For best results, wait at least 2 hours before eating or drinking. The longer you wait, the better, as Cushion Grip typically takes 2-6 hours to fully cure.

You can sip liquids after 5 minutes of initial setting, but avoid removing your dentures, eating, or drinking until the adhesive has fully set.

Tip: Our brand ambassadors like to apply it at night before bed so it can cure the whole night uninterrupted.

05. Can I soak my dentures with Cushion Grip on them?

Yes, but avoid soaking for the first 24 hours, as it can soften and lose its hold. After that, you can clean and soak as usual since Cushion Grip is 100% waterproof and won’t wash off or break down in water.

06. Can I use other adhesive/reliner with Cushion Grip?

While Cushion Grip is designed to be used alone, some users choose to combine it with other products for added security. If you plan to use glue adhesive or powder, wait at least 24 hours after applying Cushion Grip for the best results.

07. Why does Cushion Grip tingle, and what can I expect after applying it?

This product contains a small amount of alcohol. Do not use it if you have any open sores or cuts in your mouth or gums. Please wait to use until after your extraction sites are healed.

Upon first application, you may feel a slight stinging or burning sensation, similar to the feeling from mouthwash, even with healthy gums. This is normal and should last no more than 5 minutes.

An ingredient of Cushion Grip, ethyl alcohol, assists in inhibiting the growth of bacteria on the inside of the denture plate.

08. Does the adhesive have a taste?

No, it doesn’t have a taste.

09. What if I accidentally swallow the product?

Swallowing Cushion Grip is similar to swallowing chewing gum—it should pass without issue. The product contains no toxins or poisonous ingredients and is non-toxic. It does not contain zinc. While it does contain a small amount of ethyl alcohol, the quantity is minimal. However, keep out of reach of children.

10. How do you store Cushion Grip? Does it have an expiration date?

Store Cushion Grip at room temperature, away from cold environments to prevent it from hardening. Keep the cap tightly closed to avoid product hardening at the neck. When stored properly, Cushion Grip does not expire.

11. How far after Extraction Day can I begin using Cushion Grip?

Wait until your extraction site has healed and any discomfort has subsided before using Cushion Grip or other denture adhesives. Healing times may vary, so it’s best to consult your dentist for personalized guidance.

Caution: Avoid using on open sores or cuts in the mouth or gums. Cushion Grip contains small amounts of alcohol and may cause a temporary burning sensation, similar to mouthwash.
